These boxes were handed out in 1914 to every soldier wearing the King's Uniform serving on the front at Christmas 1914. They originally contained tobacco and other small gifts.
It is made of brass with a lid that is embossed with a profile of the Princess, her monogram, and above her profile the words "Imperium Britannicum" . There is a design around the edges of the box which recognize principal allied nations fighting at that time:
France, Russia, Belgium, Japan, Servia and Monte Negro.
