In 1995, mother and daughter team Judy Gilman and Marcella Madsen discovered a vacant pharmacy in a Victorian storefront in Pacific Heights. They kept the original pharmaceutical cabinets and plaster walls, created wire chandeliers shaped into grand nests, put in antique nickel display cases, and applied gold leaf signage on the windows. They named their new store Nest.
Since then, Nest has become a destination shopping experience for locals and for visitors from around the world. Named "One of the 50 hottest interiors shops in the world" by Living, Etc., they feature an eclectic collection of treasures - Rustic antiques, fine jewelry, quirky and cool accessories, beautiful home decor items, vintage books, handblocked linens, and dozens of one-of-a-kind finds and hand-made items. Many locals check in weekly so as not to miss the latest arrival in this always-evolving establishment.
