A spoof scrapbook of the 1920s, documenting the life of 'Maisie, a rich American woman, the widow of an English officer, and her two children, the debutante Bridget, the witty aesthete son Tata.' Their story is told through a series of parodic letters, diaries and literature brought together in scrapbook form by a friend called 'Alice'. The text is accompanied by Jullian's wonderful, satirical drawings. The book is written with an affectionate and tolerant view of the decade of decadance, a standpoint that had not been previously possible during the War and Post-War years.
